Quest to reach 1000 miles - 30 miles left

Only 30 miles to go! Sunday I ran 10 miles while watching the Viking game. This capped off a 35 mile week. One of my longest mileage weeks in a very long time. I also felt really good on Monday. No aches and pains. I took Monday off, but ran a quick 3 miles on Tuesday. I don't know if I will get a run in today because of a busy schedule. I only have 2 more days of work and then I'm taking the rest of the month off. I might not hit a 1000 by Sunday, but I should by Monday. Friday I leave to go get Ryan at college. I'm looking forward to that.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 43 miles left

UFC treadmill run. They were running a UFC marathon on Spike TV in preparation for tonight's fight. This gave me something to run too. I ran an easy 6 mile and then did a 1 mile cool down. Only 43 miles to go. I hope to get a long one in tomorrow when I watch the Vikings game.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 49 miles left

I'm under the 50 mile mark! I really didn't feel like running at all today. My Abs were hurting for some reason. Like I did a 100 sit-ups. I didn't do a 100 sit-ups. We had to move to a different workspace at the office so I was doing that all morning. I didn't want to go running and I was putting it off, but I grabbed my bag and headed over to the club at lunch. I just did a easy 4 miles. It hurt, but I did it and I was glad I did it when I was finish. I hope to get a couple good runs in watching football this weekend. If I'm brave I will run outside.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 53 miles left

It was frickin freezing outside. These are the days I don't mind running on the Dreadmill. I did an easy 5 mile interval. alternating every 2 mins. It made the race run go a lot faster as did listening to The lost Symbol. Maybe I could finish this next week? That would be great.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 58 miles left

On Wednesday I made it back from Springfield, MO. Lucky to get back with the weather. Ran some errands for wife before her book club, shoveled the walk and still able to get an easy 5 mile run in. It was just easy 5 mile starting off slow and slowly build up the speed to simulate a fast finish. Hope to get another 5 in today I want to knock off these last miles and then move to some new training.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 63 miles left

I did a semi easy 4 miles at lunch today on the treadmill at the club. I hate Monday run's after running all weekend. Also boring on the treadmill. I'm listening to Dan Brown's the "Lost Symbol" so that helped a little. I like it the best of all the books I have read so far. I have to travel for business the next two days so no running tomorrow and I hope to get a run in Wed night when I return.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 67 miles left

Not a great week for running only 21 miles. Most of those came at the end of the week. Fighting a case of insomnia all week so I was dragging most of the week.

Monday - 5 miles
Thursday - 4 miles
Saturday- 6 miles
Sunday- 6 miles
Total: 21 miles

I have 25 days to complete the final 67. That is 2.7 miles a day.

106 Miles for the Month of Nov

November turned into a big month for me. I haven't run that many miles since April and May. This is a great example of just keeping that appointment with myself. Running during lunch, after work, longer runs on weekends, during the vacations.

Thanksgiving Run down - 83 Miles to go!

With the holidays I took time off from blogging but not running.

Tuesday- 4 Miles. Just did 4 easy miles on the treadmill at lunch time. It's all I had time for that day. Also I was really dragging.

Wednesday - off. I had big plans of getting up early and running before picking up my son at college. Well that didn't happen so ended up just going to get him. We had a great talk in the car just him and I. then we drove 5 hours east to WI to spent Thanksgiving with my In-laws. Only a small group this year 22!

Thursday Turkey Trot 10K. Traditionally I run the Lifetime 5K Turkey trot, but because I wasn't in Minneapolis I decided to just run my own. As I was getting ready to run my mother-in-law asked me to get the Turkey out of the garage refrigerator. So the run started with me getting the Turkey. I thought that was quite poetic. It was a little chilly but I dressed well. "running on empty" started playing right when I hit a country side road. That made me smile and get it in.

Friday Off - I took Friday off and when and watched my nephew play Hockey in Greenbay. He played well and split the two games.

Saturday 6.5 miles - After all the eating I did on Thanksgiving I decided I better run again. After Thursday run I had an heal issue. It was a little harder to get moving, but the power of music kicked in. "Lit" by Buckcherry was the first song and that got me going. It was cold again, but dressing correctly really helped. I ran a little farther this time.

Sunday 6 miles- I had to take my son back to college on Sunday so I Tivo'ed the Vikings. Watched them smack the Bears when I got back and then ran on the treadmill watching the Steelers & Ravens since my FFB team had players on both teams. It was an easy run, but it put me over the 100 mile mark for the month.

Quest for 1000 miles - 113 miles left (Help me Frodo)

I really didn't want to run today, but I pushed myself to the club and ran 4 miles at lunch. I ran the last 6 days so I getting a little tired. I guess this quest for 1000 miles is starting to get to me. I know all you real runners laugh at only a 1000 miles in one year, but to me its a pretty long journey. I'm starting to know how Frodo felt in Lord of the Rings. (Geek) I don't evil monster chasing me, but I do have family, work and an old tired body whispering in my ear your not going to make it. Who cares no one will know or care if you don't do it. Just say you did. Well I would know, so that is why I'm still pushing on. Maybe Sam could carry me the last couple of miles. On second thought I will run them.

Back on the Juice

Yes I have to admit it I'm back on the Juice. No not alcohol. A more evil drug Caffeine. I was doing very well being off the smack for almost 2 years. Oh I would fall off the wagon every now and then. Especially when I was traveling in Europe. But I was off and then a couple of weeks ago I slowing got into the habit of having a Pop (That's Midwest for soda) in the morning. I usually takes me all day to finish it, but the monkey is back. It's better than when I used to drink a 6 pack a day at Microsoft. (Free Pop) I have switched up brands. I was hooked on Diet Dr. Pepper (That's the same face I make after my first taste. Ahhh Yum, but now I switched over to Diet Cherry Coke. I hope they don't taste me after my next race. I will fail for sure.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 117 miles left

I really wanted to do a long run today. A nice 10 mile run, but after I woke up I knew my body wasn't up to it. My hamstrings, and feet were still hurting. I still wanted to get a run in, so I set out to do at least a 6 miler on the treadmill. I set an easy pace because I new it was going to be rough. It was a tough run even at that pace, so I had to call it at 5 and walk for another mile to cool down.

I can't complain to much since 31 miles is my highest total since June 15 when I ran 35 miles as I got ready for half-marathon. My month total is already highest since May so I think what is happening is I put it into high gear to break a 1000 miles and my body is rebelling a little. That's ok no pain no gain. It would be great to hit a 100 mile month in Nov. Just need 26 miles. Might be a little difficult with Thanksgiving and I will be traveling and won't be running the Turkey trot this year. I will bring my running gear and see if I can squeeze a run in.

I watched Julie and Julia last night. It was actually a good movie and shows the power of blogging. I don't think I have her talent but it would be fun to set a goal like she did and go for it. Maybe I will do that for my Tri training next season.

Quest to reach 1000 miles - 122 miles left

I went out for dinner last night. I ate way to much and then went to see 2012. There were a ton of people lined up to see Twilight for the 10:20 show and it was only 8:15. So sick of hearing about that movie. I read the first book and I thought it was a bunch of mush. I know I'm not the target audience. I wanted to see 2010 on the big screen because of all the special effects. The movie was really a roller coaster ride. Lots of action, incredible imagery and a nice family story. After the movie we stopped and had cheese cake. I didn't need that but boy was it good.

I wanted to get a run in outside, but I slept in and then we had a basketball game to go to. Because the sun set at 4;40 I wouldn't be able to get a long run in outside so I ran on the treadmill. I planned ahead and Tivo'ed the Badger game. I just did and easy run. My knees and feet are starting to hurt. Still it wasn't super slow. I did 6 miles in 1:03. A 10:30 pace overall. the game was still going so I walked almost a 1.5 miles to cool down. It was tough to see the Badgers lose that game they really should have won, but that is why they play them I guess.

Now a couple hours later I feel pretty good, but the bottom of my feet are really sore. Don't know if its my shoes, my home treadmill or approaching a 1000 miles my body is starting to tell me its a little worn out. I'm looking forward to knocking off these last 100+ miles. I think I'm going to switch to more cross trying next year. I need to improve my bike and I noticed after doing more bike work for Triathlons my speed really increased.

Plan is to do a big run tomorrow. Let's hope I can do it.

The Claw

I wonder if this is now my homecoming date felt?!? She looks so happy.
